Bridges

What are Dental Bridges?

Missing teeth can make it more difficult to chew without pain or smile without embarrassment. If missing teeth are not promptly treated, they can cause your remaining teeth to crack/fracture under heavier load, shift and become crooked.

How do Dental Bridges work?

Your existing teeth next to the space are used as anchors to support the dental bridge which goes across and fills in the gap caused by missing teeth. Dental bridges can be composed of various materials, including porcelain, gold or metal alloys.

If you would like your dental bridge to fit in seamlessly with the rest of your beautiful smile, a porcelain bridge is a good option for you. Porcelain is durable and stain-resistant. Best of all, porcelain can match the colour and reflective properties of natural teeth.

The Dental Bridge Procedure

During the dental bridge process, the dentist will administer a local anaesthetic to numb the area. This will allow you to remain comfortable throughout the process. If you require an additional level of comfort, dental sedation is available.

The dentist will prepare the anchor teeth by reshaping them to accommodate the bridge. They will then take a 3D scan or mould of the prepared teeth/ the teeth opposite the bridge and a bite record and send them to our trusted dental lab technicians here in Auckland. A temporary bridge will be made for you to wear while your custom bridge is being made.

Once your final dental bridge is ready, you will return to our clinic where we will check the colour and fit then permanently cement your dental bridge to your teeth.

Enjoy Your Complete Smile!

Getting used to your dental bridge should only take a few days. You should eat soft foods for the day or two after your procedure. Within a week, you will return to eating all of your favourites, speaking with ease, and smiling with confidence.
